Aims
This module aims to provide an understanding of the principles of metabolism, encourage an
appreciation of the diversity and interconnection of metabolic pathways, and stimulate an
understandingoftheapplicabilityofmetabolisminabroadrangeofbiologicalcontexts.Itwillallow
studentstobefamiliarwithsomeofthefundamentalmetabolicpathwaysthatdescribehownutrients
can be utilized for production of energy and for synthesis of new biological molecules, how these
pathwaysareregulated,integratedandaffecthumans.
