Propaganda Project

Each pair is assigned one type of propaganda appeal (e.g. bandwagon, fear, emotional
words, etc.) – Use your notes as reference.

Use art supplies, magazines, etc. to create a propaganda poster for the world of 1984.
Must be original – big brother is watching you is not original.

Your poster must highlight the propaganda type assigned (e.g. bandwagon), but it is okay
to combine it with other appeals.

You will have two class periods to complete.

Groups must present posters to the class by explaining propaganda appeal and
demonstrating1984 link

An A project will:
o Be based on the assigned propaganda type (appeal): 30 points
o Be based on the narrative of 1984 though creative license is allowed and
encouraged: 30 points
o Use the strengths of both group members equally: 10 points
o Demonstrate originality: 10 points
o Show effort (e.g. neatness, reflection of time allotted): 10 points
o Enhance class understanding of topic (presentation): 10 points
