Introduction
Congratulations! A large company has heard that you and your team are creative and
excellent at conducting research. Your team has been hired to design educational
materials for elementary schools across the state.
The Task
What is a solar system? What can be found in our solar system? Where is Earth in
relationship to the sun? Your task is to design educational materials to teach kids the
answers to these questions. Your team must decide which of the following you will
create:
~ FOLDABLE
~ POSTER
~ GLOGSTER
~ POWERPOINT
~ GOOGLE PRESENTATION
~ PHOTOSTORY 3
~ORIGINAL SONG (written lyrics & performance)
The Process
STEP 1: Use your Solar System Graphic Organizer to record information as you research
the websites below. Your team should decide how to divide the work so you can meet
your deadline. For example, one person may want to focus on researching what’s
covered on pages 1 & 2 of the graphic organizer, while another team member
researches what’s covered on pages 3 & 4.

STEP 2: Meet as a group to be sure you have ALL the information completed on your graphic
organizer. You may need to refer back to the websites above.
STEP 3: Decide how you will share your research. You may create one of the following:






a foldable
poster (Scroll down to see some planet cutouts you may want to us. Ask your teacher
for a copy.)
Glogster
PowerPoint or Google Presentation
PhotoStory 3
original song (Decide on a familiar tune, write lyrics to go with the tune, then practice
singing it.)
STEP 4: Read the next section under the Evaluation heading to see what information should be
included in your creation and how you will be scored.
STEP 5: Get started!
