ABOUT HAYES THEATRE CO
Hayes Theatre Co is named after Australian musical theatre legend, Nancye
Hayes OAM. Honouring the vast history of Australian Musical Theatre and its
practitioners.
Hayes Theatre Co is a venue located at 19 Greenknowe Avenue, Potts Point, with
a focus on providing a permanent home for small-scale musical theatre and
cabaret. By providing venue space to newly mounted productions Hayes Theatre
Co, will be a presenting partner together with independent producers and artists,
as well as providing a permanent location in Sydney for New Musicals Australia
and the Sydney Cabaret Festival.
Hayes Theatre Co will present a range of performances - from re-imagined
classic musicals, new work from Australia and overseas, cabaret, and children’s
productions - and will connect with an already established music theatre-loving
audience in Sydney. This intimate venue gives audiences the opportunity to
enjoy an up-close-and-personal music theatre experience.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Each year Hayes Theatre Co will have a number of opportunities available to
emerging and established producers to present their work. In line with our
mission statement, Hayes Theatre Co looks favourably on submissions that
represent a range of performances from re-imagined classic musicals, new work
from Australia and overseas, cabaret, and children’s productions – that will
connect with an already established music theatre-loving audience in Sydney.

PRESENTING OPPORTUNITIES
Hayes Theatre Co will be your presenting partner. This will require your project
to have a dedicated emerging or professional producer attached, the creative
expertise and the financial means to mount a successful high-quality production.
For musical theatre productions, we are seeking productions that can run
between 3 weeks and 5 weeks, generally with 6 performances a week.
As a presenting partner we will provide the following:







A 111 seat black box theatre and standard technical rig
Ticketing management
Technical Manager support for bump-in/out
Box office and bar staff
Marketing through the Hayes Theatre Co website and mailing list
The standard sound and lighting equipment in the building (please note
this may not include headset microphones)
Hayes Theatre Co will manage all ticketing, internet and phone bookings,
ticket collection and door sales at the box office, as well as the listings on
our Facebook page and website.
As the producing company you will need to provide the following:




A high quality, fully rehearsed show including all set, costumes and props
Any technical equipment outside of our standard specifications
Performance rights
The cast and creative team required for the production, as well as the
stage management and backstage crew
HIRE FEES

Theatre hire is $2000 per week (plus GST) against 30% of box office (less credit
card charges and inside fees) capped at $3000 (plus GST) maximum hire per week.

Wireless radio microphones are charged at a rate of $1000 (plus GST) per week
for 1 – 8 microphones, and $1200 (plus GST) per week for 8 – 12 microphones.

Additional support from the Technical Supervisor outside of the hours outlined below
is billed at $35 per hour.
YOUR HIRE FEE INCLUDES:

A FOH Supervisor for performances.

A Technical Supervisor’s presence for 10 hours of bump in and 7 hours each day
for two days of technical rehearsals (if required), as well as 4 hours of bump out. The
Technical Supervisor will be available to assist with the setup, moving and operation
of lights and/or sound equipment. The Technical Supervisor will be the sound
operator for up to 7 performances per week.

Our standard lighting and sound inventory (including lighting desk and lanterns,
as well as sound desk and PA) and electricity. If you require any further equipment
from our stock, hire can be arranged for an additional cost.
TICKET PRICES AND FEES
Ticket prices can be determined by individual producers. However, Hayes
Theatre Co will advise on ticket pricing as required.
Ticket sales can be made via Internet or Phone using the Hayes Theatre Co
Box Office System (Supplied by SABO). Producers will be given SABO login
details so that they can access ticket sales reports.
All tickets sold will be subject to an internal booking fee of $2.50 per ticket.
This fee must be included in the total advertised cost of the tickets.
