Student’s Individual Work 1
1. Theme: Methods of determining identification of medicinal plant materials.
Macroscopic analysis.
2. Learning goals: to form students skills in determining the authenticity of the
medicinal plant materials, represented by different morphological groups (leaves, grass,
flowers, bark, underground organs, fruits and seeds).
3. Assignments:
1. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of herbs.
2. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of leaves.
3. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of fruits and seeds.
4. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of bark and buds.
5. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of flowers.
6. Give methodology for macroscopic analysis of roots and other underground organs.
4. Method of achievement: Essay, presentation, preparation of tests. The approximate
scheme of essay: theme, goals and objectives, actuality, a list of specific questions being
studied on the topic. Conclusions and suggestions. The volume of essay is 5-8 pages.
Content includes an introduction, a list of numbers and titles of the sections. Conclusions
and suggestions, list of references. Requirements for preparation of the presentation:
unified visual style; choice of cold colours (blue, green); it is recommended to use no
more than three colors for the background, title and text on one slide; the use of computer
animation effects without distraction attention from the main content. Requirements for
the preparation of test: adequacy, comprehensible text one text task should contain one
problem of one level of complexity, with one correct answer.
5. Criteria and assessment of SIW performance: deadlines of tasks; the thoroughness
of the analysis; clarity of expression and clarity of his own thoughts; validity of
conclusions and proposals; exceeding the number of pages on a given volume.
