Marty Fields is an experienced musician, musical director and composer having trained for fifteen years at the Melba Conservatorium in piano, voice and theory. He became a professional at the age of 14, playing all over Australia and later toured the United States as a piano bar performer. Upon graduating from the Conservatorium, Marty was asked to become Musical Director for the touring musical, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He accepted and toured with the show over a three year period playing every major Australian country town. Throughout his career, Marty has worked as a session vocalist for the ABC Network and played in a number of successful rock group and cover bands including Coup De Ville and harmony act, Vintage Red. He was a founding member of The Australian Rat Pack with Bob Valentine and Lisa Edwards. As a soloist, Marty has appeared on dozens of television shows and his services as one of Australia’s premier piano bar performers are constantly in demand. He has enjoyed many long term residencies and most recently concluded a three year residency at Melbourne’s Crown Casino. As a Musical Theatre performer, Marty has starred in successful stage musicals, High Society, Three Guys Naked from the Waist Down and Crazy For You, receiving Green Room Award nominations for each production as Best Actor in a Musical, and winning the award for his performance in Crazy For You. In 2000 he played the role of “Nathan Detroit” in the sell out season of Guys and Dolls. As a composer, Marty has written radio jingles, musical scores for corporate events and contributed music and lyrics to the movie soundtracks of Death of A Soldier and The Banjo Man. He has composed over three hundred songs, the most requested being a tribute to his late father, Maurie Fields, entitled A Likeable Man. Marty is currently working on a cabaret act Tribute to the Piano Men alongside his old friend and piano bar colleague, Marty Rose, whilst also re-launching The Australian Rat Pack, with Bob Valentine and Nina Ferro.
