Commentary:
This was one of the more successful arrangements presented for the 2010 examinations.
The original melody is played by the trumpet. The piano is given a variation and a rhythmic ostinato is
given to a bass guitar. A counter melody is composed and given as a descant part throughout the song.
The Composer created an introduction which was also used as a coda at the end.
The composition demonstrated effective new parts to a well-known tune. The new parts were treated
imaginatively with interesting rhythms and interplays among the various voices.
Expressive elements are used effectively and textual possibilities are fairly well explored. This
composition/arrangement adds a breath of fresh air to a well-known tune. The
composition/arrangement had the essential elements to be given an outstanding score.
