Dear Parents,
This homework assignment should be planned out on Monday and be
turned in on Friday. This menu sheet will allow your child to choose his/her
homework assignments for Spelling. Students should be working on Spelling
every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Your child may complete
any activities adding up to 25 total points for the week. REMEMBER, neatness
always counts! A grade of ‘N’ will be given to any sloppy assignments. See
directions on the back for which words to use.

Scavenger Hunt Rainbow Words
****PLEASE see Mr. O if you have questions about any activities before the assignments are due***
Directions for activities:
Word Search – Use graph paper or ask Mr. O for graph paper and create a
word search using your ten core words. 10 Points
Flash Cards – Make flash cards using index cards. Have a family member quiz
you to help you study. Use all 18 words. 5 Points
Reverse ABC Order – Put your 10 core words in ZYX order. 10 Points
Rainbow Words – Write your 10 core words neatly and then trace your letters
with AT LEAST 3 different colors. 5 Points
Cursive – Write your 18 words using your neatest cursive handwriting. 10 Points
Bubble Letters – Draw your 10 core words with bubble letters. 5 Points
Question Sentences – Write questions using your 10 core words. Your
sentences may use 1 or 2 words and must be at least 8 words long and end in a
period. Use question marks and capital letters. 10 Points
Lefties Wanted – Write all 18 words in two lists – first list should be written
with your bad hand – second list with your good hand. Decide which is the best.

Spelling images – Use creative materials found in your home (toothpicks,
straws, pipe cleaners, etc.) shape your 10 core words. Take a picture and print
or email it to [email protected]. I will send a confirmation email. 10 Points
Circle Vowels & Underline Consonants – Write or type your 18 words and circle
the vowels and underline the consonants. 5 Points
Study Time – You need a parent to help give you a practice spelling test. They
should say the word, use it in a sentence, and repeat. Write your score. 5 Points
Scavenger Hunt – Try to find at least 7 core words in magazines, newspapers,
etc. Cut out the words and paste them to a separate paper. 10 Points
Typed Lists – Type your words on the computer in three different lists and
change the font, color, and size for each list. Feel free to email the document
when finished. 5 Points
$pelling Prices – Write your words and assign each letter a value (A=$1; B=$2;
C=$3; D=$4…Z=$26). Add up the total price of each core spelling word. 10 Points
RANSOM Words – Cut individual letters out of magazines and newspapers to
create your 10 core words. 15 Points
Word Scramble – Make a word scramble worksheet by scrambling the letters
of your core words. Be sure to have an answer key on the back. 5 Points
**** Any activities that require only 10 core words will get extra credit if
all 18 words are used.
