Author: Joseph Stalin
Place: Moscow, February 9,1946
Could the citizens have
disagreed with Stalin’s
opinion/views on economics
and political situations?
I don’t think that the citizens
were completely aware of
the negatives of communism
nor the positives of
capitalism.
It was an election speech but
there is only one canidate, so
he is technically not trying
to persuade the citizens, he
is just informing them.
Stalin thought that the wars
happened because of
capitalism, but competition
is part of human nature.
Eventually I think there
would be a revolt of the
people living in communism
so they could gain their
individuality back.
Prior Knowledge:
Stalin was a political leader. He was the premier of the Soviet
Union and secretary general of the communist party. The
speech was given 8 years after the election of the Supreme
Soviet. Was an election speech
Audience:
The citizens of the Soviet Union/ assembly of voters
Reason:
To inform the citizens of the party’s goals and reason for the
goals. Inform the citizens of the Soviet Union’s future
The Main Point:
To show Stalin’s point of view when it comes to capitalism and
communism and what he plans to do in order to govern the
Soviet Union. Says that the World Wars was caused by
capitalism nations.
“the war arose in reality as the invitable result of the
development of the world economic and political forces on the
basis of monopoly capitalism”
Significance:
Shows the people and the reader Stalin’s position when it came
to political and economic views. He is very against capitalism
and is for communism.
Analysis: In his speech, Stalin is informing the citizens of his opinions on how the government
should be ran in order to prevent another war like the World Wars. In his opinion, the correct
form of government is communism.
