Events for Opening of the Aongatete Nature Trail These events are part of Conservation Week 2016 Main Opening Ceremony Date Opening/Unveiling of the ‘Aongatete Nature Trail’ (Interpretative boards) Tuesday 13 September 2016 Start time: 3.00pm (Afternoon tea followed by opening) End time: 4.30pm Location/venue : Aongatete Outdoor Education Centre, 834 Wright Rd, near Katikati Event Title: Official unveiling of the Interpretative boards located on the tracks around Aongatete Lodge and in the Forest by Mayor Ross Paterson followed by the opportunity to peruse some of the signs at your leisure on a 800 meter walk around the nature trail loop track Aongatete Outdoor Education Centre and Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust are working together to improve the environmental education focus at Aongatete. These 29 interpretive panels is a start and covers the geology, interesting aspects of the ecosystem, conservation activities and some Rongoa properties of the surrounding Kaimai forest. Enjoy the early spring bird song, the result 10 years of active pest control. Be the first to view the newly installed Nature Trail signs which give a magnificent interpretation of the bush and its inhabitants.
