1. Op #32
a. Title your page OP 32, Compound Light Microscopes & The Cell Theory
b. Divide your page in half
c. The top half label, MICROSCOPES and highlight.
d. On the very next line write “The importance of microscopes” and
highlight. Right after, explain in at least 3 sentences why the invention of
the microscope was significant in Biology. Highlight and number each
period.
e. On the next line write “ Compound Light Microscopes” and highlight.
f. Underneath draw a sketch of a CLM and label its major parts and add
color to your sketch.
g. Underneath the sketch explain in at least 3 sentences details about the
CLM. Highlight and number each period.
h. The second half label, The Cell Theory and highlight.
i. State the first part of the cell theory using all CAPITAL letters. Right
after, draw a sketch that explains it. Add color.
j. State the second part of the cell theory using all CAPITAL letters. Right
after, draw a sketch that explains it. Add color.
k. State the third part of the cell theory using all CAPITAL letters. Right
after, draw a sketch that explains it. Add color.
l. Underneath in a complete paragraph (8 sentences), explain the three
scientists who were key to the development of the cell theory. Also,
include in your discussion the cumulative nature of science and how the
cell theory is an example of that. Number and highlight each sentence.
2. Op #34
a. Title your page Op # 34, Pre-Lab, Comparing Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic
Cells.
b. Attach the lab sheet on the Input page 34.
c. Read the objectives to the lab. On Op 34 write the word PURPOSE and
highlight. In a complete paragraph (5 sentences) discuss the point of the
lab. Highlight and number each sentence.
d. Write the word HYPOTHESIS and highlight. Copy the hypothesis with
the blanks. After you completely read the procedure and understand what
you will be doing in lab, go back and fill in the blanks highlighting the
parts you have filled in.
e. Write out the word MATERIALS and highlight. Draw and label all the
materials you will use for this lab. Note – remember to refer to page 3-4
in your SNB to help you draw materials needed.
f. Write out the word PROCEDURE and highlight. Note that there are 3
parts to this procedure. You must draw them ALL. Label each part as 1 2
or 3 so that it can be easily seen and highlight these titles. For part 1, I
must see 3 steps drawn out, for part 2, 3 steps drawn out and for part 3, 5
steps drawn out.
g. NOTE – no pre-lab means you will not be able to participate in the lab and
must automatically sign up for the make up lab day.
