Where is Greece and why do so many
people enjoy going on holiday there?
KWL GRID - What have they learnt about
Greece? What would they like to find out during
this topic?

into small groups and ask each group to research
a different aspect e.g. climate, landscape, food.
Create a short presentation in their groups to
tell the rest of the class what they have found
out in their research.

what is meant by BC and AD. Locate Ancient
Greece accurately on a timeline.

Introduce Mount Olympus and the names of some of the
Greek Gods and Goddesses. Put twelve information sheets
around the room with information about a different God on
each one. Children go round the classroom collecting
information such as the name of the God, what they were
God of and their symbol. Children can then do further
research using the websites below. Children complete a
matching activity, matching each God to their symbol. They
can then use the information they have found out to
complete a fact sheet about a God of their choice.
Under this question, we will also do some work
about the importance of Greek theatre. Use
Extension: Add some factual information about
