Show chn 10 pegs on coat hanger. Split into a group of 8 and a group of 2 If
we take off the 2, how many will be left? What if we took off the 8 instead?
What number sentences can we write? Read them using variety of

Show chn 2 towers of cubes, one of 8 cubes and one of 10 cubes, each of the
cubes has a penny coin stuck to it. What’s the difference between these 2
towers? Explain extra bit is.
If I break off the bit that is the same (the 8), this is the bit I’m left with,
the difference. What number sentence can I write? 10p subtract 8p equals
2p.
Imagine I had a 10p coin and bought a chew for 8p. The difference between
what I had, 10p, and the price, 8p, is 2p, the change I get. Rpt this time
spending 18p on an item from a chd shopkeeper. Show 18 on the 20 beaded
line and ring the 2 beads between 18 and 20. This is the difference between
18 and 20, the change I would get. If I subtract 18 (cross part of n/line
out), I’m left with 2. Rpt with 17p. Create SC
