SPELLING CONTRACT Choose 25 points of activities. *Underlined activities may be typed. All other activities must be neatly handwritten. The activities are due the day of the Spelling Test. Please label each activity page with how many points the activity is worth. You can only do each activity one time per spelling list. Bonus Points: 26-30 points total = 1 bonus point, 31-35 points total = 2 bonus points 5 Point Activities Alphabetize: Put the words in alphabetical order, and then write the words in reverse alphabetical order. Vowels & Consonants: Write your words using the color red for vowels and the color blue for consonants. 10 Questions: Write 10 questions using at least one spelling word per sentence. Underline your spelling words. Remember the 5 W’s. Word Search: Make a word search using www.puzzlemaker.com. Complete the word search after printing. Picture Dictionary: Make a picture dictionary for 10 spelling words. Write each word and draw a picture to illustrate it. 10 Point Activities Print & Cursive: Write each word once in print and twice in cursive. Definitions: Write the word and definition for 15 of your spelling words. Quality Sentences: Write sentences using all of you spelling words. Underline each spelling word. You may use more than one word in a sentence. Rainbow Write: Write your words 3 times each in different colors. Crossword Puzzler: Make a criss-cross (crossword) puzzle using www.puzzlemaker.com (You will need to create clues for each word.) Complete the puzzle after printing. Story: Write a story using at least 15 of your spelling words. Underline each spelling word used. Don’t forget beginning, middle, and end. The story must make sense or points will be counted off. Rhyming Words: Create a T-chart. On the left side write each spelling word. On the right side write a word that rhymes with each of the spelling words. Word Scramble: Create a T-chart. On the left side scramble the letters of each word. On the right side unscramble the letters of the word. Synonyms/Antonyms: Create a table with three columns. Left column will be the spelling word, middle column will be for synonyms, and right column will be for antonyms. Each spelling word will need to have a synonym, an antonym, or both. Syllables: Create a T-chart. On the left side write each spelling word. On the right side divide each of the spelling words into syllables. Use a dictionary if you need help. 15 Point Activities Letters for Sentences: Write sentences using the letters in each spelling word for 15 of your spelling words. (tree—Tom really enjoys eggs.) Collage: Make a collage using at least 15 of your spelling words. Spell the words using letters you cut out from newspapers or magazines. Product Poster: Create a product you would like to sell. Use at least 15 of your spelling words when creating an advertisement for your product (underline each spelling word). Your poster must include the product name, illustration, and cost. Be Creative
