Apply the ideas of cell structure to explain specialised cells to include sperm, egg, red blood, neurone, skin, root hair and pollen. Show how different types of cell are adapted for different functions. Explain that cells can make new cells by dividing, so growth occurs and their increase in size. Identify that cells have a nuclei which contains the information which is transferred from generation to generation.
