Medications can provide beneficial effects that act synergistically with the rehabilitation treatment, or they can generate side effects that adversely affect rehabilitation goals. Hence, many therapists want to learn more about pharmacology and how drug therapy interacts with rehabilitation. This course will use a case-based approach to address specific medications and how these medications affect patients receiving physical therapy. Patient cases will be introduced, and questions will be proposed about the drugs taken by each patient. The audience will then participate in a group discussion to answer these questions and determine how drug therapy can impact the patient’s responses to physical rehabilitation.
