• ALLERGIES- immune response to substances
that usually are not recognized as foreign.
• TISSUE REJECTIONoccurs when T cells
bring about destructions
of foreign bodies. (Transplanted Organs)
• AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE- disease that
results when the immune system
mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues.
• BLOOD-TYPE REACTION- potentially
deadly reaction when blood is transfused
with a person where blood does not match
the donors.
• AGGLUTINATION- clumping of red
blood cells due to a reaction between
antigens on red blood cell plasma
membranes and antibodies in the
plasma.
• RH SYSTEM- antigen found in red
blood cells, 89% of us has it.
HEMOLYTIC DISEASE OF THE
NEWBORN
•When mothers red blood cells reach the
baby, and the babies red blood cells are to
immature to make their own. So without a
blood transfusion for the baby, brain damage,
retardation and maybe even death.
