The Solar System By: Madison Nunley Our solar system is made up of the sun and eight planets. The planets from nearest to farthest from the sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The sun is at the center of our solar system. The sun has six layers, the Core, the Radiation layer, the Convection layer, the Photosphere, the Chromosphere, and the Corona. Mercury Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and does not have any moons. It takes Mercury 88 days to orbit the sun. Venus Like Mercury, Venus has no moons. It takes Venus 225 days to orbit the sun. Earth Earth is the only planet with human life and only has one moon. Most objects in space that go or fall towards Earth atmosphere burn up in earth’s atmosphere. Mars Mars is also known as the Red Planet and has 2 moons. Mars orbits the sun every 687 Earth days. Jupiter Jupiter has at least 63 moons. It takes Jupiter 12 years to orbit the sun and is the biggest planet in the solar system. Saturn Saturn has 49 moons and Titan is Saturn's largest moon and the only moon to have a atmosphere. Uranus Uranus has 13 discovered moons. It takes Uranus 84 years to orbit the sun. Neptune Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun. Moons Asteroids Asteroids are rocks that revolve around the sun comets Comets are mixtures of ice, dust, and rock that circles the sun I hope you enjoyed my power point of the solar system!
