Flagyl is contraindicated during pregnancy so a menstrual history or pregnancy test should be obtained before administration Vaginitis Etiology: bacteria protozoa viruses yeasts The acidic environment (pH less than 5.0) of the vagina inhibits the growth of many pathogens.
