the atmosphere of the
earth has seven layers.

turning the materials or rays they are exposed to

Troposphere
• The presence of water is
essential for life on Earth.
• One of the factors acting in
the formation of water is the
Troposphere, one of the
layers of the atmosphere.
• The troposphere layer
enables water vapor rising
from the surface of the Earth
to be condensed from
whence it returns to the
Earth in the form of rain.
Ozonosphere
• The atmosphere layer that
blocks the rays that might
be fatal to life on Earth is
the Ozonosphere.
• The Ozonosphere turns
harmful cosmic rays like
ultraviolet back to space,
hence preventing them
from reaching the Earth
and harming life.
Ionosphere Layer
• Each layer of the
atmosphere has beneficial
attributes for human
beings.
• For example, the
Ionosphere layer, one of
the upper layers of the
atmosphere, reflects radio
waves broadcast from a
certain centre back down to
the Earth, thus enabling
broadcasts to be received
from long distances.
Magneto-sphere layer
Van Allen Belts
• Formed by the magnetic
field of the Earth,
• Serves as a shield
protecting the Earth from
– celestial bodies,
– harmful cosmic rays
– and particles.
• Thousands of Km’s above
the Earth protect the living
things on the Earth from
the fatal energy from outer
space.
•this protection was made known in the
Qur'an in the verse, >14 centuries ago:
"We made the sky a preserved
and protected roof"

Protective Roof
• If the atmosphere did not exist,
millions of meteoroids would
fall to the Earth and the Earth
would become an inhabitable
place.
• Yet, the protective aspect of
the atmosphere allows
living things to survive in
safety.
• This is certainly
– Allah's protection of people
– and a miracle proclaimed in
the Qur'an.

Massive Crack Opens In Earth In Texas
CLAUDE, TX –
A massive crack in the earth
opened up last week in Claude,
Texas and it's creating a stir
among geologists.
Geologists said Tuesday the crack
was a joint in the earth's crust.
They believe the opening is the
result of a weak point in the
joint where one spot slips away
from the other.
Some parts measure more than 30feet deep and it drained what
used to be a pond.
Experts say earth cracks are
common but the size of the crack
in Claude is not.

San Andreas Fault in California, one of the longest and most active faults. Visible as the linear
feature to the right of the mountains, San Andreas Fault reaches 15 kilometers deep and is
about 20 million years old. The above exaggerated-height image was created by combining

Along San Andreas Fault, the titanic Pacific Plate is shifting relative to the huge North American
Plate by an average of a few centimeters per year. At that rate, in a few million years, the

Surrounding the Earth's core is the mantle, a 3,000 km thick layer of dense magnesium- and
iron-rich rock called peridotite.
Heat generated by radioactive decay and gravitational friction keeps part of the mantle soft.
Convection currents stir this semi-fluid layer.
Molten rock (magma) rises towards the surface of the Earth, cools, and sinks to be reheated
far below.
On a smaller scale, convection currents can be seen in a cup of hot coffee as milk warms and
wells upwards in billows, then cools and sinks again.
When Plates Move Apart
• Currents in the soft mantle are powerful enough to crack Earth's crust into
enormous plates.
• As the plates separate, molten rock wells into the expanding rift, then cools
and hardens into new oceanic crust.
• At present there are about twenty plates of different sizes and shapes
moving about the surface of the planet.

When plate edges override one another, one of the plates is forced down into the hot
mantle and melts. This process is called subduction.
Molten crust material is lighter than mantle, and it rises - melting its way through the
overlying solid rock and erupting as volcanic lava.
When a continental plate collides with an oceanic plate, the dense oceanic plate is
usually forced underneath the lighter continental plate.
Continents therefore endure by floating on the surface of the mantle, but ocean crust
is consumed by subduction.
Because ocean floor is continuously created at mid-ocean spreading centers, it is far
younger than most continental rock.
The oldest continental rocks in Newfoundland and Labrador are 3,800 million years
old, but the oldest rocks in the ocean are only 150 million years old.

Comfort and Strength
on the Way
َ ‫ِإنَّ ُه ْم يَ ِكيد‬
}15{ ‫ُون َك ْيدًا‬
[86:15] As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,
}16{ ‫َوأ َ ِكيدُ َك ْيدًا‬
[86:16] And I am planning a scheme.
َ ‫فَ َم ِ ّه ِل ا ْل َكافِ ِر‬
}17{ ‫ين أ َ ْم ِه ْل ُه ْم ُر َو ْيدًا‬
[86:17] Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers:
Give respite to them gently (for awhile).
