Environmental Science
Organism – A type of living thing.
Habitat – Where an organism gets food,
water, shelter, and other things it needs to
live, grow, and reproduce.
Biotic – “Bio” means alive. – Biotic factors
are living things in an environment. What
are the living things in your environment?
Abiotic – “A” means without. Abiotic
means non-living things.
Water, Sunlight, Oxygen, Temperature,
& Soil are the ABIOTIC factors.
Ecosystem
All the living and nonliving things in an area.
Community
Different species that live
In the same area.
Population
A group of organisms that are the same species.

What basic needs are provided by a
Habitat?
What might happen to an organism if its
habitat could not meet one of its needs?
Define the terms biotic and abiotic.
