nutrients and water can be absorbed into the
bloodstream
Includes the colon, rectum & anus (oh geez)
 Absorbs water, vitamins
& salts from digested
food

› achieved by bacteria in
the gut like E. coli

Remaining (undigested)
food is eliminated as
feces (poo)

