Born in Berlin in 1929, Sir André fled to the United States with his family before the outbreak of the war. Previn himself leads us through the various stations of his life by making us acquainted with the people who played, and still play, a special role in it: his ex-wife Mia Farrow, soprano Renée Fleming, playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard, jazz player David Finck, Previn’s sons Fletcher and Lukas, a rock musician, and, of course, world-famous violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. It is for her, his most recent ex-wife, that after 60 years he returned to Europe and composed the Grammy-winning Violin Concerto “Anne-Sophie”. Excerpts from this and other works are featured in the documentary.
