TEACHING EXPERIENCE THE COLLEGE at BROCKPORT, State University of New York August 2010 – Present Adjunct Professor: Improvisational Theatre, Theatre Arts Department • Instructor of course THE 232 Improvisational Theatre. Covers principles and techniques of both Long and Short Form improvisation as a performance art form, and fundamentals of ensembleplaying, characterization and play-making (creation of Theatre Scenarios). Explores the effect of the dramatic process on communication skills and human development. 3 Cr. Every Semester. • Instructor of course THE 426 Improvisational Studio (B). Prerequisite: THE 232 and instructor’s permission. Provides advanced work in a master class / open workshop & forum setting, giving dramatic structure to ideas and stories. ROCHESTER CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT October 2010 – Present Theatrical Education Consultant / Teaching Artist • Contracted by the Rochester City School District and named to the U.S. Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement; Arts in Education Model Development and Dissemination Program; (AEMDD Grant Program) as the 6th grade Theatre Arts, Teaching Artist in Residence. • Developed a curriculum with which I created a series of 10 lesson plans that I personally implemented in 38 classrooms across 11 city schools for The AEMDD Program. This program supports the enhancement, expansion, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that are based on research and have demonstrated that they effectively: 1. Integrate standards-based arts education into the core elementary and middle school curriculum 2. Strengthen standards-based arts instruction in these grades 3. Improve students' academic performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts. Ft. studio loft into a 70 seat fully modular Black Box Theatre. • Created and implemented business-plan whereby producers and performers of all stripes could rent a well proportioned venue at an extremely affordable rate. • Liaison between potential and current renters. VISION THEATRE 2001 – 2003 Co-Founder and Executive Producer • Converted a former department store into a 150 seat performing arts venue. • Produced 18 plays, with over 700 performances, from adaptations to original productions and a reinvention of Random Acts, coining the phrase “ImproVariety.” • Created Square Roots Children’s Theater, which included an original Commedia dell’Arte company.
