Rex ‘Marc Bolan’ flash mob world record attempt planned Nozstock: The Hidden Valley Festival 1st – 3rd August 2014 Bromyard, Herefordshire Theme - Jurassic Farm: The Land That Noz Forgot 29th May 2014 - Aside from playing host to some of the hottest music acts around, Nozstock: The Hidden Valley is now announcing an array of comedy and theatre names including British Comedy Award-winning duo Cardinal Burns, one to watch Pat Cahill and puppeteers The Fetch. Further comedy additions include 8 out of 10 Cats star Tom Rosenthal; Brian Gittins and Brett Goldstein, both seen on Ricky Gervais’ latest TV outing Derek; the eclectic Rob Carter; and newcomers Tom Davis and Matt Rees. These comedy stars will be joining Nozstock’s musical headliners Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Heavy and Roots Manuva as they descend upon the prehistorically themed Jurassic Farm this August for the biggest Nozstock to date! The Bantam of the Opera theatre will again be filled with jaw-dropping circus, poignant poetry and more magical moments than you can shake a wand at. Master puppeteers The Fetch will be performing a brand new show called Cloth of the World that will incorporate profound puppetry and mesmerising mask work to create something truly spectacular. As night falls, The Velveteen Valley will take over the Bantam of the Opera theatre, filling it with decadent cabaret including the much lauded Ophelia Bitz, ‘Polesque’ entertainer Amber Rosia and many more. Interactive theatre will also be seen throughout the entire site – stilt-walkers, jugglers, unicyclists, acrobatic cavemen, dinosaurs and more will all grace the Jurassic landscape, which will be alight with visual treats for Nozzers of all ages. The weekend will see a huge tribal dance break out and chieftains will take crowds on an epic hunt across the site, joined by life-size exoskeletal puppets (think sabrecats and mammoths). Bring your familiars and families, the sages and the youngsters to join your caveman friends and some furry beasts in an adventure to reclaim your roots once more. The ever intriguing Wrong Directions Cinema tent, curated by Mash Cinema will once again be making a welcome return to Nozstock, too. Full of prehistoric-themed classics (including plenty of kid-friendly screenings) like The Lost World and Gammera the Invincible, the schedule will be topped off by audio visual work from musician, concert artist, composer and video artist Don Slepian and works from multi disciplinary artist Yoshihide Sodeoka, whose celebrated visuals have been shown all over the world. Remember the days when we used to dress up like Marc Bolan from T. Rex and sing their classic Get It On? No? Well, get remembering as Nozstock want attendees this year to be part of a Marc Bolan flash mob world record attempt on the Saturday at 4pm at the Bandstand! To sign up all punters need to do is turn up at the Bandstand a little before 4pm with their best Marc Bolan outfit on (gongs optional) and their vocal chords intact. All together now, “Get it oooooonnnn...” Live Music lineup announced so far Fun Lovin’ Criminals/ Roots Manuva/ The Heavy/ Craig Charles DJ Set/ Molotov Jukebox/ Sonic Boom Six/ The Skints/ The Mouse Outfit ft. Location: The Farm, Rowden Paddocks, Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4LS Capacity: 5,000 www.nozstock.com twitter.com/Nozstock www.facebook.com/nozstockthehiddenvalley Background Fiercely independent, Nozstock caters for festival goers of all types, from the veteran festival aficionado through to those newly affected by the festival bug. It has evolved from a gathering of 50 friends into an intimate musical odyssey joining the dots between pop, ska, folk, funk, soul, indie, drum & bass, psytrance, house and a whole lot more. It is now firmly established as one of the country’s leading boutique festivals. The Hidden Valley has nine stages, many nooks and crannies and is set around a ramshackle Tudor farmhouse. The ORCHARD STAGE is set at the foot of a natural arena on the side of the gently sloping valley. Alongside the farmhouse is the GARDEN STAGE, which provides a more eclectic lineup, turning electronic by sundown whilst a converted cowshed, the CUBICLES, pushes out subthumping bass and dubstep through to the early hours. The festival is truly home-grown and hand-made – quite literally in fact, with a small army of grass roots supporters helping to create the wonderfully themed environment each summer. Nozstock is the quintessentially British festival – a little bit eccentric, a lot of fun, full of wonder, enchantment… and a touch of magic. Further information on announced artists Cardinal Burns Here at Nozstock we are very excited to announce this year's comedy tent headliner, Cardinal Burns. The award winning duo are highly acclaimed for their character comedy and sketches, both on television and live. These guys have sold out Soho Theatre in London, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and brought tears of laughter at Latitude, Reading & Leeds Festivals. Nozstock, get ready to laugh your socks off! Pat Cahill Combining off-beat jokes with songs about dying pets and ‘choice fatigue’, Cahill’s unpretentiously surreal and absurd outlook has seen him win numerous awards and secured him firmly in the ‘one to watch’ category. Described by Bruce Dessau of the Evening Standard as having “true star quality and bags of originality, mixing physical humour, gimmicks, wordplay and comedy songs”, he will undoubtedly go down a storm this year at Nozstock. The Fetch The Fetch will be returning to Nozstock this year which will be their fifth year in a row. A touring theatre company producing a highly visual style of theatre incorporating puppetry and mask work, they can be described as firm festival favourites as they always pack out the tent with their shows. Committed to promoting theatre as an activity for everyone, they also get a great response to their workshops where people are allowed to meet the puppets, learn how to manipulate them and really get hands on. They will also be debuting a new show this summer called Cloth of the World. Ophelia Bitz Ground-breaking and award-winning emcee Ophelia Bitz performs internationally as a compere and vocalist with a playful and intelligent style that will leave you reeling! Free-flowing wit and dazzling costumes combined with original and hilarious ‘showtunes for the cynical’ have given Ophelia a reputation as one of the most exciting performers working today.
