Free lance Costume designer since 1980
Next to her designing she was a few years teaching costume design on the academy of art,
From 1986 till 2001 she was also head of the costume department and designer in one of the
main theatre in Holland, the Appeltheatre in Den Haag.
Since her first production till now she has been designed costumes for approx.60 productions,
Theatre pieces, and the last years she is also doing opera, musical, film, and installations in
Holland and the rest of the world..
Productions
OPERA MUSICAL
She did the costumes for the big musical production, DE JANTJES (J.vd Ende)
For the opera COSI van TUTTE, LOHENGRIN , LA SCALA DI SETA and
RUSALKA, TSAAR SALTAN for Opera Zuid, DON GIOVANNI, DER
ZIGEUNERBARON, TOSCA, RIGOLETTO and more.
THEATRE and INSTALATIONS
For the theatre piece she designed MIDSUMMERNIGHTSDREAM three times.
Also PEYTON PLACE made for theatre ,and for TROYAN WOMAN, a location
production for the Oerol festival on Terschelling, for the Appeltheatre.
And a lot more. She made around 60 shows for drama theatre.
Now she is travelling around in the world to do here work.
She was the costumedesigner of the openings show GOLD in Frankfurter stattteater, made by
Saskia Boddeke. written by Peter Greenaway in Frankfurt.
She worked also for different plays and installations in France and Italy.
In Lille she did WASH AND TRAVEL made for the cultural town of Europe, and the big
installation THE CHILDREN OF URANIUM in Genua, both directed by S Boddeke,
written by P.Greenaway.
For the World EXPO 2008 in ZARAGOSA they made the production BLUE PLANET
direction, S.Boddeke, tekst P.Greenaway,(costumes by Marrit) This was called the best
production of the Expo.
FILM
She was the partial designer of the film of PETER GREENAWAY. 2004
TULSE LUPER’S SUITCASES, she also dressed the wardrobe part of the exposition
about this movie, who is travelling all over the world.
She did in 2007 the costumes for the international movie NIGHTWATCHING also by
Greenaway.(Award for the best production design and nominated for best costume design
Polish film awards)
Now she is working on greenaway’s movie GOLTZIUS
In 2009 she did LES LETTRES DE JULIA directed by Isabelle Costantini, in Luxembourg
Tarantula productions. And PENNY’S SHADOW a dutch movie by Steven de Jong. Also
BENNIE STOUT by Johan Nijenhuis. And SHOCK HEAD SOUL by Simon Pummel.
Her speciality is that she loves working with unusual materials, and the use of beautiful
colours used in a extreme or very subtile way .Here strengths is that she improvises on the
spot in close cooperation with the director. This is very useful on set, with creative directors
as Peter Greenaway, Steven de Jong and Saskia Boddeke and others.
