MARCO “BENZ” GENTILE Multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, arranger and producer. He's a violin and viola graduate and he's a String Quartet graduate of the Fiesole Music School too. He studied chamber music in Fiesole and at Paris Conservatoire with renowned teachers such as Hatto Beyerle, Milan Skampa, Andràs Keller, Peter Cropper, Gyorgy Kurtag, Christophe Giovaninetti. He works on many sides of the musical production. He collaborated, for studio recording or live touring, with italian or international artists and bands such as: Meg, Africa Unite, Madaski, Subsonica, Max Casacci, David Hillyard & the Rocksteady7, Larry MacDonald, Victor Rice, Tommy Tornado, Tormento, Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters, Mario Conte, Colapesce, Coez, Alex “Kid” Gariazzo. As a songwriter he wrote some songs with Mino Vergnaghi for Sony Music Italia. In 2002 he founded the “Quartetto Maurice” and he played with this ensemble until 2012, working in the field of contemporary music and playing in the most prestigious theatres and concert seasons in Italy and in Europe. Since 2003 he works with Architorti. With this string quintet he made hundreds of concerts but in the last years the main activity is the creation and the production of the sountracks for Peter Greenaway's films and multimedia installations, together with the composer Marco Robino, founder of Architorti. Peter Greenaway's projects with Architorti music are: Peopling the Palaces (installation at Reggia di Venaria Reale), The Last Supper Installation (installation-projection on the original painting by Leonardo da Vinci), Goltzius and the Pelican Company (film), 3x3D (3D film in collaboration with J.L.Godard), The Towers/Lucca Hubris (site-specific film-installation), The Dance of Death - Ein Basler Totentanz (site-specific installation in Basel), Eisenstein's Mexican Ghosts (Deluxe edition book with cd). He made in 2014 with the artists Alessandro Sciaraffa and Ivan Bert an installation-opera for trumpet, viola, microwaves and the Moon surface called “I LUNATICI PARLANO ALLA LUNA” using the lunar surface as an “interplanetary mirror” for the sound. Some of the music he composed or produced has been used for multimedia installations or permanent artworks in: MAXXI Museo del XX Secolo Roma, Reggia di Venaria Reale, Auditorium Parco della Musica Roma, Giorgio Persano Gallery Torino, Palaisozaki Torino, Teatro Franco Parenti Milano, MAUTO Museo nazionale dell'automobile di Torino, Park Avenue Armory New York, Arts House Melbourne, MART Rovereto, Palazzo Reale Milano.
