This material can be reproduced and distributed to your students. We hope this Teacher Guide will be a useful part of your teaching experience! Page 2 - 5: Solar System Guide. Reproduce this planet guide for each student. Have them write what they learned about each planet Then color, cut, and staple to make their own fact book. Page 6: Go to the activities site of the website. Page 7: Use the activities at www.artyastro.com to answer the question. Page 8: General astronomy questions. To be reproduced and distributed or discussed with the class. Page 9: My Planet. Have the students draw and write a description about their favorite planet. This planet can be an existing planet or a planet they develop using their imagination. Encourage the students to use planetary features like rings, craters, moons, and other planet features they learned about, to create their own unique planet that might exist in a far off solar system. The sun is the center of the solar system. Our solar system is known to have nine planets, no two alike. The pull of gravity from the sun holds the planets in their orbits and keeps them from floating off into space. All our planets are named after gods in Roman mythology. Scientists believe that our solar system is more than 5 billion years old.
