CANADIAN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE LAUNCHES NEW RUN
SITE IN MILTON
MILTON (March 27, 2013) - Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Ontario Region is pleased to
announce Milton as a new Run site in the 22nd annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC
Run for the Cure. Canada’s largest single-day, community-driven, fundraising event in support of
the breast cancer cause will take place in more than 60 communities on Sunday, October 6, 2013.
“We are thrilled that Milton has expressed a desire for further involvement in the breast cancer
community,” says Sandra Palmaro, CEO of Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Ontario Region.
“With this disease touching so many lives, Milton now has the chance to come together in support
of breast cancer research, education and awareness through the CIBC Run for the Cure.”
The first-ever Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Milton will be led by
volunteer Site Manager Karleen Hart. Her employer, Walking on a Cloud, encouraged her to
participate in the event for the first time last year in Guelph. The spirit she saw and felt on that
one day was the impetus for her to bring the CIBC Run for the Cure to Milton.
“This event is unlike any other I have ever seen. I want Milton residents, many of whom have been
directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer, to experience that inspirational day.”
Title sponsor CIBC knows how important every dollar raised is to the vital work being done by
CBCF.
“CIBC has been proud to sponsor the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure
for 17 years to help build breast cancer awareness and raise funds for programs that improve the
lives of women, men and families touched by breast cancer,” says Rose Dorland, CIBC Regional
Run Champion for GTA West. “CIBC employees are very passionate about supporting the CIBC Run
for the Cure and we are excited that it is coming to Milton. We look forward to joining with our
neighbours in the community on October 6 to help create a future without breast cancer.”
Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure Milton will take place at Milton Fair
Grounds, 136 Robert Street. To register, visit www.runforthecure.com.
