Product Indications: Upper gastrointestinal digestive aid. Di-Gest Plus is an
enzyme supplement that provides extra hydrochloric acid and other nutritional
factors designed to assist in proper digestion, support or improve nutrient
utilization, and relieve common discomfort in the upper gastrointestinal digestive
tract.
Ingredient Descriptions
One capsule contains:
Betaine (HCL betaine hydrochloride) 165 mg
Betaine HCL is an acidic form of betaine that supports digestion of proteins, carbohydrates
and fats and helps to maximize nutrient availability and absorption. Hydrochloric acid continues
the digestive process; consequently, deficiency may increase the likelihood or severity of
certain intestinal infections and be a contributing factor in other conditions such as asthma,
atherosclerosis, candida infections, gastritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Betaine HCL will help
alleviate distressful symptoms of indigestion and promote production of healthy stomach acids
in those with potential deficiency (hypochlorhydria).
L-Glutamic acid (HCL) 165 mg
Glutamic acid is also a hydrochloride (HCL); like Betaine, it activates pepsin, the enzyme
that supports digestion of dietary proteins and protects the body from microorganisms.
Hydrochloric acid is naturally secreted by gastric parietal cells and although it does not digest
food, it is essential for creating the right environment for supporting digestive processes. HCL
secretion is suppressed by overeating and naturally decreases with age, predisposing patients to
poor digestion, intestinal microbial overgrowth, and other uncomfortable symptoms.
Pancreatin (8X) 70 mg
Pancreatin is a combination of enzymes needed for digestion of starches, fats, sugars, and proteins. Pancreatin is indicated
when the pancreas cannot produce or does not release enough digestive enzymes to support proper digestion. Pancreatic
enzymes may be used for indigestion, as a replacement therapy or to support medical conditions that may cause a lack of
enzymes. Pancreatin may also be used to treat loose and fatty stool.
Papain (70MCU/g) 65 mg
Papain cleanses the stomach lining and dissolves mucus accumulation along the digestive tract and excretory system.This enzyme
also works to break down heavy proteins so that they can be more easily digested and absorbed. Notably, papain doesn’t lose
its proteolytic activity at different pH levels; consequently, it is durable for therapeutic applications in the highly acidic stomach
environment. Papain is used for gastrointestinal problems such as stomach ulcers and indigestion, assisting with infections and
shortening the healing time associated with some injuries and surgery.
Pepsin (10,000X) 30 mg
Pepsin is one of three principal protein-degrading (proteolytic) enzymes
in the digestive system; it breaks down dietar y proteins into their
components (i.e.; peptides and amino acids) which can be readily absorbed by the intestinal lining for optimal digestion. Pepsin
deficiency is generally associated with a deficiency of hydrochloric
acid in the stomach. Pepsin supplementation is used for aiding
digestion.
Ox Bile 20 mg
Ox bile assists in breaking down cholesterol, emulsifying fats, digesting
lipids, and promoting absorption of fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamins
K, A, D and E. Ox bile is sometimes used in the presence of gallstones.

Amylase 14,000 USP
Amylase is present in human saliva, where it begins the chemical process of digestion. Amylase contributes to digesting
carbohydrates or polysaccharides into smaller disaccharide units, eventually converting them into monosaccharides such as
glucose. People who can’t digest fats often eat sugar and carbohydrates to make up for the lack of fat in their diet. If their
diet is excessive in carbohydrates, they develop an amylase deficiency resulting in symptoms such as abscesses, phosphorus
deficiency, and tendency towards gastritis and stiff joints, especially in the morning.
Lipase 14,000 USP
Lipase is a water-soluble enzyme necessary for the digestion, transport, and processing of dietary fats so they can be
absorbed in the intestines. Lipase is primarily produced in the pancreas but also in the mouth and stomach. Most people
produce enough pancreatic lipase, but patients with degenerative conditions of the pancreas and intestines such as cystic
fibrosis, Crohn’s disease, and celiac disease may not produce enough lipase to get the nutrition they need from food.
Protease 2,800 USP
Protease is one of several digestive enzymes needed to break down protein in the digestive process into single amino acids.
Protease is considered a blood cleanser via its action on bacterial debris and certain viruses, and its ability to break down
circulating immune complexes. Protease deficiency can lead to decreased immunity; greater susceptibility to bacterial, viral
and yeast infections; a predisposition to PMS; toxicity in the colon; and potential phosphorus deficiency.
Dosing Recommendations
Adults and Children 12 and above: As a nutritional supplement, one to two capsules with meals. Use only as directed by
your health care professional. Do not exceed four capsules per day.
