JOB DESCRIPTION

Field Installer/Rigger
Memphis, TN
Duties:
The field Installer is responsible for performing installation and fabrication of rigging hardware, battens, curtain
tracks, electrical plug boxes/strips and all related items. Installations require the rigger work at heights ranging
from twelve to sixty feet from floor level, and may often call for the use of safety and climbing. While much of the
work involves individual initiative and judgment, working with team members is critical when performing rigging
installation.
Specific work will include the installation of hardware to existing structures, the installation of hanging pipes,
beams or tracking and hardware to concrete, steel, wood, and block walls. Responsible for drilling, securing and
testing the operation of head blocks, mule blocks, sheaves, winches, and components of counterweighted,
winched and dead hung systems.
Installers are required to document site conditions, work situations and other onsite situations as set by the
Project Management team. An installer might be required to oversee one or more over-hires on occasion.
Additional duties include shop time/fabrication, normal facility upkeep and construction as directed.
Skills:
 Experience in construction.
 A working knowledge of basic power tools.
 Knowledge of theatrical rigging practices and procedures with extensive experience in rigging and
installation of counterweight and motorized systems.
 Ability to recognize, tie and determine use of knots and cabling terminations.
 Knowledge of safe climbing skills and practices including ability to rappel, belay, and ascend.
 Basic math skills, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
 Ability to work with or without supervision.
 Use of authoritative references and “common sense” judgment when making decisions regarding safe
rigging practices and procedures.
Condition(s) of Employment:
 Possess or have ability to obtain ETCP Theatre Rigging certification within required time frame.
 Clean driving record.
 Security clearances.
 Pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
 Extensive travel is absolutely necessary and at times may include weekends or multiple weeks at a time.
Travel expenses are paid. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
 Ability to lift/carry at least 60 lbs.
 Work in extremely dusty/dirty/noisy/chaotic conditions.
 Must be willing to follow OSHA rules as well as Mainstage safety protocol.
