Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thank you for joining us today as we announce one of Qatar’s greatest strides
in the industry of chemicals and petrochemicals production.
Our prosperous nation has strengthened its presences as a producer and a
major source of chemicals, polymers and fertilisers and still aims for more
concrete large-scale expansions.
Qatar has established itself under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh
Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, as one of the
leading oil and gas producing countries with currently produced 10 m tonnes
per year of chemicals and petrochemicals, a number that is expected to
double by 2020, reaching 23m tonnes per year.
With growing global demand for chemicals, polymers and fertilisers, Qatar’s
increasing production is supplying and supporting the growth of a wide
number of industries around the world. The country is investing around $25
billion in its petrochemical sector up until 2020 as part of its economic
diversification strategy and its mission to increase its global market share in
the chemicals and petrochemicals industries.
And it is with clear vision to position Qatar as the world’s pre-eminent
chemical and petrochemical hub, that I have the great pleasure to announce
the launch of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution
Company, Muntajat.
Mandated by the Emiri Decree No. 11/2012, the establishment of Muntajat
creates a single corporation which holds exclusive rights to purchase, market,
distribute and sell to the world all specified regulated chemical and
petrochemical products produced in the State of Qatar.
Muntajat marks an important milestone in diversifying Qatar’s export portfolio.
This new endeavor is testament to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad
Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar under whose leadership
Qatar has reached the towering position that it is at today.
Muntajat will play a key role in achieving Qatar’s 2030 National Vision by
contributing to Social, Human, Economic and Environmental development and
the creation of a diversified knowledge based economy with a strong
presence in the region and around the world.
In addition to bringing added value to Qatar’s chemicals and petrochemicals
industry, Muntajat will create job opportunities for local talent and support a
solid knowledge sharing platform that elevates standards of living, reinforces
the gross domestic product (GDP) and contributes to diversifying Qatar’s
economy reinforcing its strong presence in the region and around the world.
The consolidation of distribution channels within Qatar and beyond will reduce
the carbon footprint of delivering chemicals, polymers and fertilisers through a
state of the art supply chain programme to serve international customers.
Muntajat will become the face of Qatar in the global market with an
international network supplying governments and private customers
worldwide. Muntajat’s strong large-scale advanced supply chain network will
enable us to strengthen our relations with the international markets.
By diversifying Qatar’s exports portfolio we will be able to maintain Qatar’s
position amongst the richest and hopefully most advanced nations in the
world. Utilizing the competitive chemicals and petrochemicals supplies and
the abundance of raw materials will help us create a diversified economy
based around the chemicals, polymers and fertilisers industry.
We see the future of the chemicals and petrochemicals industry evolving in
the world, creating innumerable opportunities, cultivating further investment
and creating knowledge based industries and it is through Muntajat, that we
aim to capitalize on these prospects for the utmost benefit of Qatar.
