DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES as OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE:
1. Conduct Annual, Pre-employment, Pre-travel, Contract Renewal and other medical
checks according to schedules and documented procedures for all employees.
2. Scan reports and incorporate into personal medical files and notify employees of results,
making recommendations as to subsequent action if required and competent to do so.
3. Conduct, or assist Medical Officers to conduct daily clinics for company employees,
undertaking routine nursing duties and performing basic physiological measurements as
required.
4. Dispense prescribed medications.
5. Manage the dispensary, updating stock records daily and monitoring expiry dates.
6. Attend to medical emergencies when required. Provide basic immediate life support
treatment and administer more advance life support as directed by a physician. Arrange
the transfer of patients requiring hospitalization or other clinical attention.
7. Maintain individual patient records, ensuring that all information is kept at the highest
level of confidentiality.
8. Dispose of all medical waste using the correct procedures.
9. Ensure all instruments are kept sterilized.
10. Calibrate medical equipment as per schedule.
11. Conduct a daily stock take of medical supplies and order replacement stock as required.
12. Answer medical queries if competent to do so, otherwise refer them to the appropriate
authority.
13. Prepare and give health talks when required to company employees and contractors on
general health subjects.
14. Develop and conduct training in First Aid and other health subjects for company
employees and contractors when required.
15. Maintain a personal development program to keep medical knowledge current.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES as STAFF NURSE:
1. Provide direct care to assigned patients.
2. Take the nursing history, summarize data, and state nursing diagnoses/patient care needs.
3. Observe and record signs, symptoms, and behaviors, including the physiological status of
patients; present the assessment of changes, the proposed revision of interventions, and
desired outcomes.
4. Follow policy for activating an individualized plan of care for newly admitted patients.
5. Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the
stated medical plan of care.
6. Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures, and assist others with patient's
activities and care.
7. Execute physician's orders for all assigned patients; safely and properly administers
medications and treatments.
8. Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff to changes in the patient's status.
9. Independently perform duties and assume responsibility for care of assigned patients.
10. Perform techniques and routines in the specialty service area.
