Moon by City Design is a direct LED luminaire made with a die-cast aluminium body measuring 562 mm in diameter, 209 mm
high, and weighing 13 kg. Available in four variants: side, decorative, bottom, suspended. Post head attachment for Ø 60 mm
poles (Moon bottom and Moon side).
The outer housing is especially shaped to ensure adequate heat dissipation. The aluminium printed circuit board uses single-chip LEDs with a
maximum efficiency of 170 lm/W (@ 85° C), a white light colour temperature of 4000 K with CRI 70. The power supply, fitted inside the lamp, uses
virtual midnight and PFC functions to control luminous flux, with a power factor of 97%. As additional safety, a device is installed in parallel with the
power supply to guarantee surge protection of up to10 kV for class 1 and from 8 kV to 10 kV for class 2.
The Moon lamp by City Design features temperature control that, if the temperature of the LED increases suddenly due to particular environmental
conditions, reduces current delivered to the LED so as to stabilise the temperature and guarantee correct operation and extend photometric system
working life. In addition, the board features transient suppressors (that limit voltage spikes), providing additional protection for the LEDs. These
features mean the lamp can also be used in places with high temperatures.
The heat sink ensures sufficient heat transfer efficiency to prevent the junction temperature from ever exceeding 85°C, even in extremely hot
conditions. The aluminium printed circuit board, 1.6 mm thick with ceramic insulation, minimises thermal resistance between the LED heat slug and
the aluminium heat sink.
The photometric system is available with different optics based on the type of installation:
OA: standard optics for poles more than 6 metres high. Streets, bike paths, walkways.
OB: standard optics for poles less than 6 metres high. Streets, bike paths, walkways.
OD: optics for wide spacing in large areas, suitable in combination with other lenses.
OM: narrow-angle optics. Streets, bike paths, walkways.
ON: medium-angle optics. Streets, bike paths, walkways.
OP: pedestrian crossings.
OQ: pedestrian crossings.
OR: squares, large areas and rotationally-symmetrical applications.
The luminaire works on normal mains voltage (230 Vac / 50 Hz) and provides class II insulation, therefore no earth connection is needed. The product
is also available in class I; the technical specifications and the components used are the same as for the class II product, with the only difference being
the earth connection, which improves immunity and common-mode surge protection. When ordering, please specify the insulation class.
Flat transparent extra-clear tempered glass, 5 mm thick, vandal-proof, IK08 impact protection.
The appliance has IP65 ingress protection. The lamp can be fitted with luminous flux control based on virtual midnight (Auto-Dim system), a function
that adjusts the current delivered automatically based on the parameter settings, without requiring external connections. Automatic adjustment of
the power delivered is based on the active calendar settings on the power supply installed.
Dimming systems: STANDARD PROGRAMMING: Auto-Dim; CUSTOM PROGRAMMING: Auto-Dim; PLM: Powerline modem.
Each Moon lamp by City Design is assembled and individually tested to ensure the correct lumen output, power and colour temperature parameters.
During testing, each luminaire is left on for 48 hours in order to identify any early failures.
All City Design lamps come with a five-year warranty.
