Description of equipment
The fans of type KTEX consist of housing a fan wheel and a certified induction motor with a
permanently connected cable. The material in the riveted construction is galvanic sheet metal except for
the inlet cone whieh is made of copper.
Fans of types
KTEX 50-25-4
and
KTEX 50-30-4 either have a rnotor for supply voltage 230 V or a
motor for supply voltage 400 V.
Fans of types KTEX 60-30-4, KTEX 60-35-4 and KTEX 1A-4A-6 have motors that can be either Yconnected for supply voltage 400 V or D-connected for supply voltage 230 V by the user.
The motors have degree of protection IP44.
The fans ean be speed controlled by applying reduced supply voltages according to the table below. The
fan motor is equipped with three PTC temperature sensors; these sensors are intended for connection to
separate supervision equipment.

l17l Special conditions for safe use

The fans shall be installed and used so as not to exceed the rated current and power on the marking
plate of the fan. However, when fans are run at partial voltage by a transformer or a three phase a.c
controller, the current may exceed the curent on the marking plate according to the table 1 in the
certificate as long as the rated power is not exceeded. A minimum backpressure may be required to
maintain the rating of the fan.

The PTC thermal protection circuits of the rnotors shall be connected to a higgering device certified
according to Directive 9419/EC, which shall immediately disconnect the motor from main supply
upon activation of the PTC-sensors.

When the fans are installed in a duct system the degree of protection IP 20 at the inlet side and IP
at the outlet side shall be fulfilled for the duct system. Parts that conffibute to this protection shall
have a suitable design with respect to strength and material.

The cable shall be fixed by the installation with adequate clamping, mechanically protected and
suitable for the environment, to ensure the explosion protection. The connection of the free end of the
cable shall be explosion protected according to the valid installation regulations.

External sources of heating or cooling shall be considered so that the ambient temperatue and the
temperature of the conveyed air are kept in the range -20 to +40'C.

The equipment includes pre certified parls which has not been subject to type examination by SP. This
certificate is based on type examinations performed earlier for such parts according to EC-Type
Examination Certificates specified in the table below and based on the presumption that the essential
health and safety requirements (including current technological knowledge of explosion protection)
according to the Directive 94/9lEC, are fulfitled by the manufacturer as required for products placed on
the market.
