The Model 3526-B has been designed with your safety
in mind. However, no design can completely protect
against incorrect use. Electrical circuits can be
dangerous and/or lethal when lack of caution or poor
safety practices are used.
Read the Manual
Read this Instruction manual carefully and completely.
Voltages and currents within the capability of this
multimeter can be hazardous. Follow the instructions in
this manual for every measurement. Read and
understand the general instructions before attempting
to use this meter. Do not exceed the limits of this
meter.
Safety Check
Double check the switch setting and lead connections
before making measurements. Are you following all of
the instructions? Disconnect the meter or turn off the
power before changing switch positions. Do not
connect to circuits with voltage present when switch is
in any ohms or current position. When replacing fuses,
use only specified type fuses and insert in correct fuse
holder.
Do Not Touch
Do not touch exposed wiring, connections, or other
"live" parts of an electrical circuit. If in doubt, check the
circuit first for voltage before touching it. Turn off the
power to a circuit before connecting test probes to it.
Be sure there is no voltage present before you touch
the circuit. Do not use cracked or broken test leads.
High Voltage is Dangerous
Always start with the power off. Be sure there is no
voltage present before making connections to the
circuit. Do not touch the meter, its leads, or any part of
the circuit while it is on. Before disconnecting the
meter, turn the circuit off and wait for the meter to
"zero".
Distribution Circuits Pack A Punch
In high energy circuits such as distribution
Transformers and bus bars, dangerous arcs of
explosive nature can occur if the circuit is shorted. Do
not use this meter in circuits of this type. Only use a
meter with a Category III rating at the appropriate
voltage.

Product Description
The Model 3526-B Digi-Probe Multimeter with Logic is a
handheld, battery operated meter that is designed and tested
according to international safety standards. It provides all the
basic measurements: AC and DC voltage, AC and DC
Current, and Resistance. A diode and continuity test is also
included for quick checks of switched, wiring, and
semiconductors. A logic test function further extends the
measurement capability of the DMM.
Autoranging
For user convenience, ranges are automatically set to the
appropriate range. Most users will find this the easiest way to
take a measurement. Manual range selection can also be
made via the RANGE HOLD button. A short press will hold
the present range. "R-H" will be displayed on the LCD.
Subsequent short presses will advance the range. To return
to autoranging mode, press and hold the RANGE button for 2
seconds.
Continuity Beeper
The Continuity mode provides a means to determine if a low
resistance (continuity) exists between two points without
having to constantly watch the display. It provides an audible
beep when continuity is detected. There will be no sound until
a low resistance is measured.
Bargraph
To watch for rapid fluctuations in the reading, a 32 segment
bargraph is provided. This bargraph responds much faster
than the digital display, allowing the user to better judge the
stability or instability in the digital reading. For example, it will
always read to the right for inputs of +1.0 volt and -1.0 volt.
Data Hold
It is often not possible to view the display and touch the
probes to the circuit being tested. In these situations, this
meter provides a data hold feature which function is to take
and hold the reading. The Data Hold feature is available in all
functions. To use this feature, simply press and release the
DATA HOLD button. D-H will be displayed on the LCD. Press
the DATA HOLD button again to cancel.
Low Battery Indicator
Internal circuitry continuously monitors the battery voltage and
will inform the user by activating the BAT annunciator on the
display. Replace the batteries immediately to ensure accurate
readings.
Sleep Mode
If left on for 10 minutes, the meter will power down to save
batteries. To turn the power back on, simply press any button
or move the Function switch.
Self Storing Tip
The Test Tip is self storing for safety and convenience. Turn
the red collar in a counter clockwise fashion to loosen the tip,
remove it, turn it over, and re-insert it into the red collar. Turn
the collar clockwise to tighten.
Before You Use This Meter
Before using the Model 3526-B, familiarize yourself with the
instrument and this manual. READ AND REVIEW THIS
MANUAL FREQUENTLY. Each time the meter is used,
inspect it for mechanical defect. Also, inspect the test lead.
Only after all tests have passed should the meter be used.
DO NOT USE THE METER IF ANY OF THESE TESTS FAIL.
Battery and Fuse Replacement
1. Disconnect any test leads connected to the meter and
place the Function Switch in the OFF position. Remove the
Battery Cover by removing the screw.
2. Remove the two AAA batteries and replace with fresh
ones.
3. The fuse may be replace at this time by removing it from its
holder. Replace only with a fuse of the same type and rating
specified.
4. Place the Battery Cover back into place and reinstall the
screw.
High Voltage Measurements
CAUTION: Always observe the following rules and procedures
when making measurements in high voltage circuits. Voltages
greater than 40 VDC or 25 VAC may create a serious shock
hazard. Never use this meter on circuits with voltages higher
than 500 VAC RMS or VDC. Treat any unknown voltages as
though they were high voltages. DO NOT USE THIS METER
ON 480VAC POWER OR OTHER CIRCUITS THAT ARE
CATEGORY III PER UL-3111-1.
• For maximum safety, turn the equipment or voltage source
off before connecting the test leads. Make certain that no
capacitors in the circuit being tested remain charged to a high
voltage.
• Set the meter to Autorange. NEER CHANGE THE
POSITION OF THE FUNCTION SWITCH WITH POWER
APPLIED TO THE CIRCUIT.
• Touch the test probe tips to the circuit being measured and
take the required reading.
Using the Model 3526-B
Measuring AC and DC Voltage
1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.
2. Set the Function Switch to the V position
3. Select either DC or AC measurements by pressing the
DC/AC button. When AC is selected, the AC annunciator will
be visible on the display.
4. Connect the meter across the circuit to be measured.
5. Read the voltage on the display. For DC voltage
measurements, the Negative Sign annunciator indicates that
the Tip is negative with respect to the COM Jack.
Measuring AC and DC Current
1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.
2. Set the Function Switch to the mA position
3. Select either DC or AC measurements by pressing the
DC/AC button. When AC is selected, the AC annunciator will
be visible on the display.
4. With power to the circuit off, connect the test leads in
series with the circuit to be measured.
5. Apply power to the circuit and read the current on the
display. For DC current measurements, the Negative Sign
annunciator indicates that the Tip is negative with respect to
the COM Jack.
6. Turn power to the circuit off. Disconnect the test leads
from the circuit under test.

Measuring Resistance
1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.
2. Set the Function Switch to the Ω position.
3. With the leads open, the display should display the OverRange indication. Short the leads together. The display
should indicate <0.3 ohms.
4. Connect the leads to the circuit or component under test.
5. Read the resistance on the display. For resistances above
approximately 1MΩ, it is normal for the reading to take several
seconds to settle. There may also be additional digit bounce
due to noise pickup.
Continuity Test
1. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack.

Tip attaches to the anode and the black lead attaches to the
cathode.
4. Read the forward voltage drop on the display. The
displayed value is in volts. If the Over-Range indication is

circuit to be tested. Connect the test probe to the point to
be tested.
a) If the measured voltage is below the low reference
threshold the GREEN LED will light, indicating a logic “
0”.
b) If the measured voltage is above the high reference
threshold the RED LED will light, indicating a logic “ 1”.
c) If the measured voltage is between the reference limits,
neither LED will light, invalid state.
4. The LCD will display the measured voltage.

Calibration
A one year calibration interval is recommended. Refer to
qualified service personnel.

QUALIFIED TRIPLETT SERVICE CENTER. ANY ATTEMPT TO
SERVICE BY AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON MAY BE
DANGEROUS AND/OR LETHAL AND WILL VOID YOUR
WARRANTY
1) Call 1-800-TRIPLETT to obtain a Return Material
Authorization (RMA) number from Customer Service.
2) Enclose a copy of the original sales receipt showing date of
purchase.
3) Clearly print the RMA number on the outside of the shipping
container.

telephone number, street address, or email address, where you
can be contacted, and a return address where the meter can be
shipped to upon repair.
TRIPLETT PRODUCT RETURN INSTRUCTIONS
In the unlikely event that you must return your Triplett equipment
for repair, the following steps must be taken.
Triplett One Year Limited Warranty
The Triplett Corporation warrants instruments and test equipment
manufactured by it to be free from defective material or workmanship and
agrees to repair or replace such products which, under normal use and
service, disclose the defect to be the fault of our manufacturing, with no
charge within three years (one year on calibration) of the date of original
purchase for parts and labor. If we are unable to repair or replace the
product, we will make a refund of the purchase price. Consult the Instruction
Manual for instructions regarding the proper use and servicing of instruments
and test equipment. Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing,
replacing, or making refund on any instrument or test equipment which proves
to be defective within three years from the date of original purchase.
This warranty does not apply to any of our products which have been repaired
or altered by unauthorized persons in any way so as, in our sole judgment, to
injure their stability or reliability, or which have been subject to misuse, abuse,
misapplication, negligence, accident or which have had the serial numbers
altered, defaced, or removed. Accessories, including batteries and fuses, not
of our manufacture used with this product are not covered by this warranty.
To register a claim under the provisions of this warranty, contact Triplett
Corporation's Customer Service Department for a Return Authorization
Number (RMA) and return instructions. No returned product will be
accepted without an RMA number. Upon our inspection of the product, we
will advise you as to the disposition of your claim.
ALL WARRANTIES IMPLIED BY LAW ARE HEREBY LIMITED TO A
PERIOD OF THREE YEARS (ONE YEAR ON CALIBRATION) FROM DATE
OF PURCHASE, AND THE PROVISIONS OF THE WARRANTY ARE
EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR
IMPLIED.
The purchaser agrees to assume all liability for any damages and bodily injury
which may result from the use or misuse of the product by the purchaser, his
employees, or others, and the remedies provided for in this warranty are
expressly in lieu of any other liability Triplett Corporation may have, including
incidental or consequential damages.
Some states (USA ONLY) do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental
or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply
to you. No representative of Triplett Corporation or any other person is
authorized to extend the liability of Triplett Corporation in connection with the
sale of its products beyond the terms hereof.
Triplett Corporation reserves the right to discontinue models at any time, or
change specifications, price or design, without notice and without incurring
any obligation.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights
which vary from state to state.
