Echinacea purpurea ‘Magnus’
Purple Coneflower
Akin to the Black Eyed Susan for their
easy-to-grow, healthy, disease-resistant
habit and looks, it bears large, daisy-like
blooms of bright rosy-pink with flat
petals from July through September to a
height of 3'. The large cone of seeds at
the heart of the flower starts out a
coppery orange, and then turns black as
the seeds mature. Companions: Shasta
Daisies, Liatris, Rudbeckia, Hardy
Lilies, and Heliopsis. 1998 Perennial of
the Year. Plant 18" apart.
Echinacea purpurea
‘Prairie Splendor’ TM
Coneflower
This is another coneflower with a
compact, well branched habit, growing
24" in height. It has rose-pink
flowers and an early bloom time than
other varieties, from late June to frost.
Be sure to deadhead to extend its
bloom time.

with pure white petals surrounding a
bronze-yellow cone. Very hardy with
a well-branched habit, providing a nice
alternative to taller varieties. Place in
the middle of the border or in

Not just another purple coneflower!
Exceptional blooming habit with many
flowers produced on the compact, 2024", well-branched plants from late
spring to late summer. The 3-4"
diameter flowers have deep rose-purple
ray petals surrounding a rose-tinted
dark orange cone and retain color longer
than its cousins. Sturdy stems will not
require staking.

Echinacea purpurea ‘White Swan’
White Coneflower
The white native Coneflower grows
from 2–3' tall with the same large
flowers as the purple form. They
both thrive in hot, dry conditions and
are happy in ordinary garden soil.
Attractive to butterflies. Plant
purple and white Coneflowers
together in big clumps for a dazzling
summer display.
Plant 18" apart.
Echinacea purpurea ‘Ruby Star’
It has petals in a horizontal
arrangement, not drooping like the
species in a deep magenta red
color. The flowers appear from
midsummer through fall and if left
on the plant to dry, the seed heads
will be food for finches and other
birds in the winter. Grown best in
well-drained soil and full sun and
once established, they are quite
drought tolerant. Height to 36".

Echinacea purpurea
‘Kim’s Knee High’
Dwarf Purple Coneflower
As tough and durable as Echinacea is,
we’re delighted to offer this 18-20"
compact version of the classic American
native. Same July-September bloom
time, butterfly magnetism, and droughttolerance, the rosy-pink flowers later
present a multitude of seeds to entice
finches to feast as autumn arrives.
Plant 18" apart.
Echinacea varieties have exploded over the last couple of
years. Echinacea flowers are shaped like a Black-Eyed Susan’s
with a variety of cones and petals in shades of pink, red, purple,
orange, yellow, white and some with combinations of colors.
They do best in full sun but will take some shade, and are
tolerant of hot, dry, windy sites. Plant with Rudbeckia, Stokesia,
Ornamental Grasses and Salvia. Best if used in borders,
meadows, butterfly gardens, masses, small gardens and
containers. The dead flower stems will remain erect well into
the winter and, if flower heads are not removed, are often
visited by goldfinches who perch on or just below the
blackened cones to feed on the seeds.

Hemerocallis
Perennials
Hemerocallis - daylilies are easy to grow, colorful,
extremely accommodating and will perform under
almost all conditions. The daylily can be characterized
as a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with fibrous
or somewhat tuberous roots. Preferring well drained,
well mulched and sunny positions, it will tolerate
extreme damp to very dry sandy soil. Flowers will be
more prolific in better soil and in full sun. In heavy
shade, foliage may be more abundant with few
flowers. Daylilies prefer at least six hours a day for
the paler shades, less for the darker reds and purples.
If flowers fade, wilt or burn in direct sun, move them
to filtered shade

There must be a zillion Hostas. The sizes range from teeny-tiny to huge. The foliage color ranges from solid light green to intense gold and all shades
in between. The variegation changes from margins to mottling to flecks and reverses. The only thing they all have in common is the need for at least some
shade. Some require total shade and some only require a small amount of shade. Some hostas are grown only for their foliage and the flower stalks are
cut off quickly. Other hostas are preferred for their flower color or fragrance, some even have double flowers and are fragrant.
