BOUGAINVILLEA ‘TORCH GLOW’
LOG
Torch Glow Bougainvillea
Low to
moderate water
Full sun to
part shade
Attracts
hummingbirds
Hybrid from
South America
Why we love it…
A fairly new introduction to the long list of Bougainvillea varieties, ‘Torch Glow’ offers the same infamous drought
and heat tolerance as other varieties without the need of a trellis for support. Multiple stems grow upright from
the base of the plant, and leaves cling closely to the branches, giving this shrub an interesting, twisting appearance.
With deep pink color at the ends of the branches and such a unique silhouette, ‘Torch Glow’ makes a fine accent or
specimen shrub, but can also be staked and pruned into a small tree. Hummingbirds will buzz around
Bougainvillea in spring to pollinate the tiny white flowers that are nestled inside the bright pink bracts.
Lydia says: Bougainvillea don’t like to sit
in water for too long, so plant them in
soil that drains quickly or in containers
that have drainage holes in the bottom!
