The Client:
The client provides data warehousing solutions to various universities.
Project:
Active Data Hub (ADH) is a data warehouse solution that continually synchronizes itself with
PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP and Siebel transaction applications.
The project is implemented using two methods
a) Oracle Logminer
b) Data Integrator (Using Changed Data Capture) as third party ETL tool
Modules:
Design of Operational Data Store (ODS) schema.
Design of Data Warehouse (DW) schema.
Design of AUDIT schema.

Challenges:
Synchronization of the SYSADM, ODS and DW.
Automate the complete process through Batch Jobs.
Creating XML jobs for ETL tool Data Integrator
zCon Solution:
zCon team has followed its proven & tested approach to break the challenges & deliver the
product.
Oracle Logminer:
Written stored procedures to read the Logminer and apply the changes to ODS.
Created cron jobs to run the daily process to transfer the changes from ODS to DW.
Created automated batch process to run the complete Install.
Created VBS jobs to run the Daily load process.
ADH uses Oracle Log Miner to mine DML statement from the archived Oracle redo logs at the
application instance (e.g. PeopleSoft SA) level. This mining process runs continually; mining redo
information on the tables.
Cron jobs are created to read the changes from Logminer and apply them to ODS and from ODS
to DW. VBS file are created to run this cron jobs. The VBS file can scheduled to run on hourly
basis or once daily as per the requirement.
Data Integrator:
Implemented changed data capture (CDC) to capture the changes in SYSADM.
Created XML jobs for data integrator to create the mapping between the CDC tables and
ODS.
Created VBS job to generate the XML jobs for data integrator
Created a VBS job to run the data integrator jobs at regular intervals.
ADH uses the entries in the CDC table to fire Data Integrator jobs which synchronize the
Operational Data Store (ODS) with the associated application database (e.g. PeopleSoft SA). This
process is initiated by a Windows VB script job (or by a CRON job) that is fired at user defined
intervals.
Data Integrator is an ETL tool used to map the tables of the two schemas. By using the
Change Data Capture tables the changes in the SYSADM are implemented in the ODS.
