These keep your essay smoooooth!
An essay without transitions is like a road with
potholes! It’s bumpy! Disconnected!
Frist, second, third, on the other hand,
however, also, next, lastly, in conclusion, in
closing, finally…. Etc.
Transitions connect your ideas between
paragraphs.
They show the relationships between your
ideas.

Connecting Words
You will want to vary the length of your
sentences by joining some sentences together
with conjunctions or “connector words.”
After you’ve written your draft, see which
sentences you can join together.
Sentence Structure

Just like no two snowflakes are alike, your
sentence should not all be the same.
Remember to check to see that your
sentences start differently.
Also, they should end differently, too!
Try to use at least each type of punctuation
once to show off what you know!
