The contractor shall obtain optimum moisture content for all fill material in a manner approved
by the engineer.
Areas to be filled shall be scalped and free of organic materials and compacted to 95% of
maximum density as determined by AASHTO T-99, prior to any fill being placed.
Fill shall be placed in lifts no greater than 6-inches in depth.
Each lift should meet or exceed 95% of the maximum density as determined by AASHTO T-99,
prior to proceeding with the next lift.
The ultimate compaction and method is the responsibility for the contractor placing the fill.
The contractor shall have the fill tested and any areas not meeting the compaction standard of
95% of maximum density as determined by AASHTO T-99 shall be recompacted, until this
standard is met.
All fill materials shall be free of organic material. Concrete, asphalt concrete, and rocks shall be
less than 6 inches in diameter.
The contractor shall provide a geotechnical report that shall be filed documenting the compaction
of all fill placed with this project. The report shall document the compacted density of the fill
and recommendations for building on the fill.
