Right hand grip rule:

-thumb will point at the north pole
Strength of electromagnet
depends on:
• Number of turns
• Voltage
• Length of electromagnet
• Type of core
Attraction and Repulsion
- The electromagnets rotating in the
center of this electric motor are
always changing their poles from
north to south
- The poles are attracted or repelled
by the permanent magnets on the
side
- It is the job of the commutator to
change the poles of the
electromagnets
