Finlaystone Decorative Garden
and Ornamental Landscaping Trees.
Listed below is a selection of our trees to provide spring, summer & autumn
colours which can also provide privacy in a garden.
Acer Platanoides Crimson King
Medium sized, slow growing Maple tree with light coloured red leaves in
spring turning deep purple throughout summer and autumn.
Acer Drummondii
Another Maple, but with light green & cream coloured leaves variegated from
spring to autumn.
Aesculus Hippocastanum
Flowering Horse Chestnut, Baumanii, with large sticky brown buds forming
into large green leaves and long lasting white flowers in spring. Suitable for
avenues and larger gardens.
Betula Utilis Jacuemontii
Medium sized Silver Birch with distinctive white silvery bark and attractive
small oval green leaves.
Carpinus Betulus
Medium sized Hornbeam with green leaves which turn yellow and then brown
in autumn. Very suitable for hedging and can be clipped hard to thicken up
and restrict height if required. Many retain their brown leaves throughout
winter until spring, but this is not guaranteed.
Carpinus Betulus Fastigata
A similar Hornbeam to the above but with a more upright growth pattern.
Fagus Sylvatica Purpurea
A tall Copper Beech tree with deep purple oval leaves. Ideal as a specimen
tree or for commemorative purposes.
Fraxinus Excelsior Jaspidea
A medium sized Golden Ash with light green foliage in spring turning in late
summer to stunning bright yellow. In most soils the bark stays a golden colour
throughout the year.
Malus Liset
A Crab Apple with purple-pink buds and flowers. Glossy purple leaves and
purple fruit in the autumn.
Malus Rudolph
As Liset above but with yellow fruit in the autumn.
Prunus Serrula Tibetica
Medium sized Himalayan Prunus with narrow green leaves and clusters of
small ink flowers in spring. As the tree develops the bark becomes a dark,
shiny copper colour.
Prunus Maackii Amber Beauty
Attractive medium sized tree with narrow crown and amber bark. There are
small white flowers in spring and the leaves turn yellow in autumn.
Quercus Rubra
Medium sized Red Oak tree developing a spread of about 15 ft in later life.
Oak type leaves, but larger than Common Oak, green but turning a very
attractive red-brown in autumn.
Salix Alba Tristis
Golden Weeping Willow with brilliant golden weeping branches suitable for
wet areas. Ideal as a specimen tree.
Sorbus Aria Lutescens
Medium sized, upright, Whitebeam with a very attractive umbrella-shaped
growth pattern. Mass of white buds in early spring, leaves green on top and
light grey-green underneath. Some trees have flowers in late spring followed
by scarlet fruit in autumn.
Sorbus Aria Intermedia
As Lutescens above but with a denser growth habit and larger leaves. Very
tolerant of atmospheric pollution!
Most of the above are currently in the region of 10 ft – 14 ft tall.
