Destructive Force
Subduction is occurringNazca plate subducting
under South American plate.
Convection currents cause the
plates to move.
The force of the oceanic
and continental plates are
causing mountains to
form.
The quick melting
of the crust causes it
to become less
dense and rise to
the surface creating
volcanic mountains.

Sedimentary Rocks make up the majority of the
range.
-Sandstone (Clastic)
-Siltstone (Clastic)
-Shale (Clastic)
-Limestone (Chemical)

Layers of sandstone
create parts of the
Andes Mountains.

I think that the Andes Mountains will continue
to slowly grow because the Nazca Plate is still
slowly subducting under the South American
Plate. Also weathering will erode the
mountains making them smaller. As long as
the Nazca plate is still subducting below the
South American Plate, then I think there will be
volcanoes forming in the Andes Mountains and
erupting.
