Organic Molecule Story, Rap (Song), or collage You are to create a Story board (or comic book), Rap Song, or collage about organic molecules. This song and story needs to include: Names of all 4 organic molecules Monomers of all the organic molecules Functions of all the organic molecules Examples of all the organic molecules If you do a song, you must have a powerpoint, posterboard, etc of the following: The lyrics to the song or the words of the story Pictures that go along with the song (pictures of the organic molecules) or pictures to support the action in the story. If you do a collage, it must be creative, and you must bring in all of your own supplies (newspapers, magazines, pictures, posterboard). Example of song (to the tune of The Brady Bunch) Here’s a story About 4 organic molecules That all have carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Each one is important For your body, So we should learn them. We will start with carbohydrates, Whose monomers are saccharides, And we will call them either mono, di or poly They give energy and support, To your body. Glucose is one of them. The lipids store lots of energy, They insulate your body too, The unsaturated are healthy, But watch out for the saturated for they can hurt you. The Nucleic Acids store information, The DNA is what makes you, you, They are made of nucleotides, Like no other, And we shall need them too. Then this one day when this nucleic acid made this protein, It put lots of amino acids in the right place, Your body then could transport oxygen and move, And that’s why you need the organic bunch, The organic bunch (do, do, do) The organic bunch All made of C, H, and O, The organic bunch. Organic Molecule Project Rubric Description of Expectation Name of Molecules are on Project Monomer(s) of molecules are shown and clearly explained Functions of the molecules are displayed/described Examples of the organic molecules are included and displayed/described Project has evidence of appropriate effort Originality/Creativity is included in the project Project is visually stimulating/pleasing TOTAL Number of Points Received Number of Points Possible 4 8 16 8 10 20 14 80 Checklist for grading Carbohydrates: Monomer ____ Function _____ Example _____ Lipids: Monomer ____ Function _____ Example _____ Nucleic Acids: Monomer ____ Function _____ Example _____ Protein Monomer ____ Function _____ Example _____ Additional comments:
