The spring makes the wide bore or gravity link anti-kinking. What lines can I use with the V-Set and can V-Sets be used with needleless systems? The two thin lines can be used for injections and infusions. The gravity line can be used for high flow infusions. The V-Set is designed to eliminate drug boluses and common space. It must be connected directly to the IV cannula as the first fitting on the cannula. It can be attached to some needleless systems but its use this way loses some of its advantages. Do V-Sets restrict the flow in any way? The thin lines are designed for injections and infusions and do not restrict flow for these uses except when used with infusion pumps at extremely high flow rates or extremely low pump alarm pressures. The gravity line facilitates maximum flow rates. ii. With an infusion, the maximum rate depends on the pump alarm pressure on the thin line. What are the gauges of the lumens? The lumen of the gravity line is 1.88mm. The lumen of the thin line is 0.61mm. How long can I leave a V-Set on a patient? That depends on the hospital protocol. What is the difference between a check valve and an anti-reflux valve? A check valve stops inappropriate syphoning and fluid going back into the line. An anti-reflux valve is similar but it has a lower pressure. Are V-Sets MRI compatible? No clinical problems have been reported to us with MRI use in the last ten years (V3-3V MRI R only). What is the maximum flow rate via the different lumens? i. The maximum flow rates from each lumen are determined by the pressure of the pump or by the pressure of the nurse’s thumb pushing on an injection syringe.
