ANCIENT EGYPT TRAVEL BROCHURE
INTRODUCTION: A travel agency has asked you to create a travel brochure for Ancient Egypt
because of your experience and knowledge about Ancient Egypt’s Nile River Valley.
YOUR TASK: Using what you’ve learned, plus additional research about Ancient Egypt, create a
travel brochure that is designed to encourage people to visit this amazing place. Be creative in
designing and formatting your brochure. You will use HISTORY ALIVE p. 74-79 to help you with your
research.

Map: Sketch a colorful, labeled map of Ancient Egypt that includes: the Nile, Upper and Lower
Egypt, the Eastern and Western Deserts. You also need the locations of your four sites (see below).
Paragraph: Provide a six sentence paragraph that explains why Egypt was considered, “the gift
of the Nile”. Analyze the importance of the Nile, and explain at least 3 ways that the Egyptians
used the Nile.
Sites to describe: Great Pyramid at Giza (Khufu), the White Chapel (Senusret I), the Temple at
Dayr al-Bahri (Hatshepsut) and Abu Simbel (Ramses II).
Honors: Research two sites of your choosing, in place of Khufu or Senusret.
Paragraph: For each site, you will need to provide a six sentence paragraph that describes the
site/monument, the pharaoh’s accomplishments, and the time period in which they ruled.
Picture: Create a colorful picture of the monument or site.
Cover: INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND PERIOD, plus a catchy title for your travel brochure!
Introduction: Give an overview of the tour you are recommending. Highlight a few destinations,
and briefly explain what tourists can expect to see on their trips. Explain the different time
periods/kingdoms in Egypt, and what each kingdom was famous for.
Picture: Provide a colorful picture that captures the beauty of the Nile, or one of the sites.

REQUIREMENT
Map: colored and labeled
Paragraph: identifies purpose of the Nile and three uses. At least six sentences.
Four Sites: At least six sentence paragraphs that include: monument description, accomplishments of
pharaoh, time period.
Cover: Name and Period, catchy title, colorful image
Introduction: Overview of tour, explanation of pharaohs, purpose of construction, 3 kingdoms.
Pictures: Appropriate, colorful picture for each page that highlights the monument or subject.
Mechanics: Complete sentences, Spelling, Punctuation, Capitalization, Word choice.
