Job Description 1. JOB INFORMATION JOB TITLE: BAND: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: LOCATION: Database Administrator 3 IT IS Infrastructure Manager Central Services - Craigavon 2. JOB PURPOSE To ensure the integrity, availability and security of Moy Park’s data; this includes database servers and network connectivity. 3. RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1 FINANCIAL No budget responsibility, but should be aware of financial impact of own actions. 3.2 STAFF No direct reports, but working as part of small IT team in HQ. 3.3 ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE / REPORTING LINE IS Infrastructure Manager Network Engineer Database Administrator 4. DUTIES / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Monitor and tune database performance. Establish and manage objective database performance criteria. Establish and manage standards for SQL queries within the system. Review SQL, server & application error logs and troubleshoot issues. Establish change control procedures and manage the process. Establish database security procedures and enforce their application. To continue to develop and deploy contingency and DR measures. To advise on database design requirements. To manage and liaise with external technical service providers. To participate as a project team member in ongoing development works. Work with other business systems support groups to optimize the performance. Work effectively within cross-functional teams, commanding credibility at all levels within the business. Contribute to IT management team & overall Support Strategy Maintain an in-depth an understanding of the key data structures and relationships that underpin Moy Park’s critical systems. To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc. Any other reasonable duties as may be required. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential Desirable Third level IT related qualification, or a third level qualification with practical skills and experience in Database Administration gained through an accredited IT conversion course. Proven track record working in the capacity of Database Administrator, ensuring integrity of data across a range of platforms; typically a minimum of two years experience is expected in order to demonstrate the depth of technical knowledge and expertise required to work effectively in this role. 3-5 years Microsoft SQL Server experience. Experience in at least two of the following: o Software Development in Microsoft Development environment and using Transact-SQL. o Infrastructure Support, Network / Server / Storage. o Database Administration on any major RDBMS. o Application Support – Manufacturing / commercial / ERP. Excellent communication skills. Strong team working skills. Recognised certification e.g. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator. SQL 2008, 2012 2016 and PaaS Experience in working in or alongside a Development Team Environment. Experience of database design. Exposure to or experience in supporting Manufacturing Systems 24hr Operations Business critical systems such as ERP systems e.g. Protean.
