SELF-CONTAINED EMERGENCY LUMINAIRE FOR ILLUMINATION OF EMERGENCY

The emergency luminaire shall comply with SABS IEC 60598-2-22.
The emergency luminaire shall consist of an ABS housing, 650OC rated in accordance with
IEC 598-1 and IEC 695-2-1. The PCB shall be self-extinguishing in accordance with IEC 249
and IEC 65. It shall be ingress protection rated IP 42.
The luminaire shall be designed to operate either 2D16W fluorescent lamps or 4W
fluorescent lamps, depending on the version, in non-maintained, maintained or combined
mode for either 1 hour or 3 hours emergency duration. The batteries used shall be
hermetically sealed high-temperature rated NiCd batteries, complying with IEC 285. The
batteries shall be protected against deep discharge, overload and inverse polarity. The
ballast used shall comply with IEC 924 and IEC 925. The safety transformer shall comply
with IEC 742.
The luminaire shall be for use with 230V/ 50Hz , Class II, and the input circuit shall be
thermally protected. It shall comply with the Electromagnetic Campatibility and Low Voltage
Directives 93/68/EEC. The luminaire shall be mountable on normally inflammable surfaces,
and be rated Class “F”. It shall be equipped with a facility to activate and de-activate the
lamps remotely. The switching input shall be protected against mis-wiring.
The luminaire shall be capable of achieving a spacing of at least 10 meters when mounted
at 2,5 meters, with a uniformity ratio of not more than 13,5 at a minimum lighting level of
0,3 lux.
Mounting options shall include wall mount and semi recessed mounting.
