Dear Student,
For each spelling lesson you will be doing the activity listed below that
corresponds with the lesson number we are studying in literacy class. Some
of the activities must be handwritten; some can be typed and printed off.
Read the description under each activity for specific details. We strongly
encourage you to practice your spelling words for at least 10 minutes each
day.
~~~ REMEMBER – you must include your challenge words ~~~
Lessons 1, 11, and 21 activity:
1) x 3 – write spelling words three times [must be written]
Lessons 2, 12, and 22 activity:
2) Rainbow Words — type or write the spelling words in three or more
colors [may type or write this activity and please make sure all 25
words fit onto one page]
Lessons 3, 13, and 23 activity:
3) ABC Order — type or write the spelling words in alphabetical order
[may type or write this activity; please make sure all 25 words fit onto
one page—use two columns if needed]
Lessons 4, 14, and 24 activity:
4) Picture — draw a picture and write the spelling words in the picture
[must be written and paper will be provided for this activity]
Lessons 5, 15, and 25 activity:
5) Sentences — type or write a sentence for each spelling word and
underline the spelling word in each sentence (you must use different
sentences than the sentences that are used on the spelling pages)
[may type or write this activity; please make sure all 25 sentences fit
onto one page]
Lessons 6, 16, and 26 activity:
6) Stair Steps — type or write the spelling words as they are stairs,
adding one letter each time [may type or write this activity]

Lessons 7, 17, and 27 activity:
7) Choo-Choo Words — type or write the entire list of spelling words
end to end as one long word, using different colors for different
words; words should not be split into two parts at the end of the line
[please make sure all 25 words fit onto one page; if you are typing,
then put the orientation of the page layout in landscape rather than
portrait]
Lessons 8, 18, and 28 activity:
8) X Words — write two spelling words having one common letter so
they criss-cross and continue the process
until all the spelling words have been included p o e t r y
[must be written, special paper will be provided for this activity, and
please make sure all 25 words fit onto one page]
Lessons 9, 19, and 29 activity:
9) Surround Words — write the spelling words on graph paper and
outline the perimeter of the word in color(s) [must be written and
special paper will be provided for this activity]
Lessons 10, 20, and 30 activity:

ZYX Order — type or write the spelling words in reverse
alphabetical order [may type or write this activity; please make sure
all 25 words fit onto one page—use two columns if needed]
